For Sekem, solar power will play a major part in a sustainable
energy supply!
The
SEKEM Solar Project focuses on technologies with a high percentage
of local added value.
The main focus is on domestic solar water heaters and process heat for
small industries.
For the latter we set up two16m2 “Scheffler reflectors” which concentrate the sunlight on a small focal point. Currently these mirrors pre-heat the water used for the steam production of the SEKEM food processing companies.
The mirrors are produced locally in cooperation with the SEKEM Vocational Training Center. Also all material is purchased in Egypt. Thus, this project has several advantages.
